Abstract

The infant mortality rate in Indonesia is high. It is around 27 per 1000 kh.  The SDGs target is 12 per 1000 kh. There are many factors related to infant mortality. Path analysis is useful for analyzing direct and indirect effects on the model of the relationship between variables that have causality. There were 771 babies or 7 per 1000 live births. The purpose of this research was to apply Path Analysis on the factors that influence infant mortality in West Sumatra Province in 2017-2018. The type of this research was Non-Reactive with cross-sectional design. The test used is Path Analysis by using a decomposition model to see the causal influence between variables. The total sampling had been used to choose the samples. It used secondary data that has been published. It was obtained from 2017 health profile and 2018 KIA report at West Sumatra Provincial Health Office. The data were analyzed by Path Analysis. In the Path Analysis results showed that there was a direct influence of Asphyxia (β = 0.206), Congenital Abnormalities (β = 0.149), history of death (β = 0.494), delivery assistance (β = 0.197), LBW (β = 0.330) to IMR. Indirect effect was Pregnant Women KEK (β = 0.520) on IMR through LBW. In short, history of death and LBW are dominant factor affecting infant mortality. Then, it is hoped that the Health Office can improve nutrition training program by giving training to the health provider the pregnant women some informations and educations.
