THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-EFFICACY AND SELF-CARE ACTIVITIES AT HOME ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF TYPE II DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS: A CROSS SECTIONAL STUDY

Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus as a global burden disease has a prevalence that increases every year. It is predicted that half the world’s population will experience diabetes in the next few decades. The current problems are low awareness of disease, inability to maintain a healthy life, lack of productivity and being a burden on families, society and even the state. The aim of the research is to identify the relationship between self-efficacy and self-care activities at home on the quality of life T2DM sufferers in Karyawanita Health Centre. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional study approach. The data collection technique used purposive sampling with the inclusion criteria being able to communicate well and the exclusion criteria being a decrease in awareness so that a sample of 120 respondent was obtained. Each respondent was given an explanation and was willing to fill out an informed consent sheet. Data collection used a questionnaire consisting of 3, namely the self-efficacy questionnaire adopted and modified from Mc. Dowell, the Diabetes Self Care Activities Questionnaire and Diabetes Quality of Life Measure. The results of the study showed that composite Self-Efficacy and Self-Care Activities at home in the poor category at 58,3% and the quality of life was in the poor category at 50,8%. The statistical test used the Pearson Chi-square with a significance level of 95%, so that p value = 0.000 was obtained, there was a significant relationship between self-efficacy and self-care activities at home and the quality of life of T2DM.
