Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is something that can not be considered normal among teenagers. A study was reveals prevalence of dysmnonorea at 71%, Academic impact was significant, with 20.1% reporting absence from school   due to dysmenorrhea;, One of the act of nonfarmakologis the reduction of pain we can do is distraksi techniques. Objectives of this research is to determine the effects of distraction techniques with virtual reality on the intensity of dysmenorrhea in female students of SMP Pekanbaru. Quantitative research method was applied, using the quasi-experimental method with a pre and post-test without control. Distraction techniques with virtual reality can reduce the intensity of menstrual pain by 1.14. The pain intensity before the virtual reality applied was 3.75 but then reduce to 2.61 after. Wilcoxon’s test results obtained a P-value of 0.000 (<0.05) means that statistically, there are significant effects of distraction techniques with virtual reality on menstrual pain intensity. Expected to the next researcher can examine the effects of the distraction techniques using virtual reality on  the other  pain.
