Abstract

The coverage of ASI in Indonesia in 2016 was 54%, while the national target was 80%. The achievement of the ASI program in Medan in 2017, amounted to 35.1%. The implementation of the policy on lactation rooms in public places is necessary for the success of the exclusive breastfeeding program and to increase the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in the Medan. This study, therefore, aims to find out how to implement the policy of providing lactation rooms at the Medan Fair Plaza, Medan. This was a qualitative study with a descriptive approach and used a case study design. There were 6 participants who were obtained by purposive sampling, the data was collected by in-depth structured interview method. The study found that communication between implementers and targets. Implementation of policies in implementing the Lactation Room policy in Plaza Medan Fair is limited. Availability of resources in implementing the lactation room policy is not appropriate, such as the lack of facilities and infrastructure needed in the lactation room based on requirements regulated health, the economic environment in the policy of lactation rooms in public places is still less supportive and not optimal.
