Abstract

Palliative care is a service provided to patient who has chronic disease that is difficult to cure and faces terminal conditions so that nurses are expected to have good knowledge to increase self-confidence in providing services. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge and confidence in nurses. in palliative care in the ICU Intensive Room and ROI Dr. M. Djamil Padang in 2021. This type of research is descriptive with a cross sectional study approach. The population in this study were 46 nurses in the ICU and ROI rooms who were taken using positive sampling techniques. Data collection used the questionnaire The Palliative Care Knowledge Test (PCKT) and Palliative Care Self-Efficacy Scale. Univariate analysis is presented with a frequency distribution table and bivariate using the Chi-Square test. The results of this study found that 97.8 lacked knowledge, and 56.3 had high self-confidence, then there was no significant relationship between knowledge and self-confidence p> (0.005) for the two instruments. Therefore, it is hoped that there will be training and education about palliative care. so that the knowledge gained will support the confidence of nurses in the ICU Room and ROI Dr. M. Djamil Padang.
