Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has become a global health threat causing severe damage to health. The development and acceptance of vaccines is undoubtedly a big hope among all individuals worldwide, including children that the Indonesian government is currently programming in mandatory Covid-19 vaccination for them. This study aims to explore and test whether parents' perceptions of Covid-19 risk for their children affect the parental vaccination intentions of their children in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. By using a cross-sectional survey and involving 117 respondents, this study then confirmed in the results of the study that risk perception had a positive and significant influence on parents' interest in vaccinating their child's COVID-19 (β = 0.732; T-Value = 15,911; P-value = 0.000). With these results, this study then recommends that policymakers and stakeholders focus on solid health promotion about the risks of a pandemic. Parents should also focus more on their concerns for their children because they are also at risk of being infected with Covid-19 and vaccinating their children for the good and safety of their health.
