The passive construction is a term used to describe a shift in the positions of the subject and object, which swap roles within a sentence. This study aims to describe passive constructions in the Bulungan language from the perspective of functional lexical theory. This is a qualitative study. The data used are spoken data, obtained directly from Bulungan speakers. Data collection was conducted using the record-and-transcribe technique. The collected data were then analyzed using the distributional method, which involves separating the direct elements and applying several advanced techniques. The results of the study show that the subject and object in the Bulungan language switch roles in passive sentences. In addition, there is an oblique function filled by the subject of the active sentence. In the Bulungan language, the word “mengka” is used as an oblique marker, and the affixes -en-, n-, and ne- are used as passive markers. The explanations of k-structure and f-structure in LFG successfully explain the process of passive construction in the Bulungan language.
